Galle Fort

The Galle fort, the most important attraction in the city of Galle, is a fortress which was first established by the Portuguese on the southwestern coast. The original fortress was constructed in the late 16th century and in the 17th century, the fort underwent renovations by the Dutch.

The entire town creates a feeling of traditional yet exquisite elegance with the roads spread in a rectangular area and the low-roofed houses and verandas in the Dutch Colonial style.
